Used 2015 Leaf battery life 45 miles on full charge

Main Post:

I’m in my 7 day trial period for a 2015 Nissan Leaf. After a full charge it tells me I have 65-72 miles. After a day of city driving I get only 45 total miles out of a full charge. Is this normal? I have 11 bar battery capacity.

Top Comment: The 2015 LEAF had a 24 kWh battery with somewhere around 22 kWh usable. 11 bars of health means 78-85% of the original capacity remains, or 17-19 kWh. In nice warm weather, driving at relatively low speeds, you might average just over 4 miles per kWh. That gives you a range of 68 to 76 miles. At highway speeds in the same conditions, expect more like 3.3 miles per kWh. That gives you a range of 56 to 62 miles. Cold temperatures will take around 30% off your range through a combination of the battery performing worse at lower temperatures, the high power draw of the heater to keep the cabin warm, and cold air being denser and harder to push through. Even worse if there's any precipitation on the road. I've gotten as low as 2 miles per kWh in very cold conditions (below freezing day and night) in my 2012 LEAF, which would give you a range of 34 to 38 miles on a charge. So anywhere from 34 to 76 miles to a charge are normal with the amount of battery you have available to you.

Come on guys, why is the ISO .45 listed as using 9mm ammo on the gunsmith screen?

Top Comment: Because the ISO from mw2019 was in 9mm and the copypaste was cheap

DAE wish you could restart your life with the current knowledge you have

Main Post:

It would start right after birth, which might be a bit gross but oh well. But think about it: you go into childhood already knowing multiplication, algebra, etc. and people think you’re some kind of genius child. Then you get bumped up a few grades to catch up to your current knowledge, and you start learning new things at a very young age. Along with being a prodigy, you also maintain your social knowledge. You already know how to not get taken advantage of by the world and how to use the internet and a computer. You might become super rich in whatever field you decide to go into. You can pay off your and your family’s debt. Possibly, you’ll remember embarrassing mistakes you made in your previous life and know how to avoid them.

This is probably depressing to imagine because you have to live with your life choices and there’s no going back... oh well

There are a lot of things from my childhood that I wouldn't want to live through again, but if I could choose an age to go back to it would be about age 13 when I started being able to make decisions for myself. Nothing big, but enough to influence my situation as an adult.

Why do the Maasai have a life expectancy of only 45 while eating mainly animal products?

Main Post: Why do the Maasai have a life expectancy of only 45 while eating mainly animal products?

Top Comment:

Because infant and childhood mortality is higher among tribal societies. If you can live past your teens as a maasai, you're more likely to live well into your 70s.

People don't die of old age at 45. No one does. This idea needs to be deleted from society.

Edit: the age of 45 being a life expectancy is NOT a maximum, but rather an average.

Real life Uppercut Progress

Main Post:

So this project has been and still is going to be very long in the making. The concept is simple, can I make the Uppercut irl? First I’m working on the next best thing which is just a blank fire conversion, the start of which is what’s pictured. I’m using my ASM 1851 Navy as a base and will make the parts via lost PLA casting. The in game model looks to be chambered for 45-70. I believe there are some dev comments as well confirming that but I may be mistaken. Regardless the Colt Open Top cannot physically fit the 45-70 cartridge as the base and rim dia are far to big for the cylinder. Enter .444 Marlin. Dimensionally it is pretty much an extra, extra long .44 mag cartridge, albeit with a slightly larger base and rim. The plan is to take a reproduction Open top chambered in .44 spl and make a new cylinder, arbor, and a frame extension. In theory 444 Marlin loaded with 60-65grs of black powder and a pistol size bullet should be low enough pressure to not go boom the wrong way in the modern steel of the reproduction revolver. As I started with, this project will take quite a long time before it’s complete. Between gathering the recourses, tooling, funds, etc. just felt like sharing.
